Google updates Chrome iPhone app; finally reveals what data it collects from you – Times of India

Google has finally updated the Chrome internet browser app on iOS. This is the first Chrome iOS app update in 2021, nearly four months after Apple released ‘Privacy Labels’ on December 8, 2020. Meanwhile, Google has released multiple updates to the Chrome Android app this year.
Apple made Privacy Labels mandatory for all iOS apps starting December 8, 2020 to make it easy for end users to understand how an app collects, processes and links your personal data. In other words, developers weren’t allowed to release updates to iOS apps unless they reveal clearly what data is collected and whether or not it is linked to the digital profile of the user.
Google being one of the largest Internet companies has been surprisingly slow in updating iOS apps after Privacy Labels were introduced. Google took a month to update its YouTube iOS app and later in February it updated the Gmail app revealing all the data it collects from users and how it’s linked. Google has also provided Privacy Labels for Photos, Drive and Google Maps.
If you have the Chrome app on your iPhone then this is what personal data Google can get from Chrome. For Android users, the privacy settings are similar as the policies are the same. Here’s the detailed list of personal data that Google collects from Chrome users on iPhone.
